A study to assess near infrared laparoscopy with indocyanine green (ICG) for intraoperative lymphatic imaging and sentinel lymph node identification during surgical resection for colonic cancer

Design and Objective

This is an open label, prospective pilot study in 30 patients undergoing laparoscopic surgery for suspected T1 or T2 colon cancer. Each eligible patient will have the ICG assisted NIR laparoscopy in addition to conventional surgical treatment in order to identify the first order draining (sentinel) lymph nodes

Key inclusion criteria

-Patients diagnosed with T1 or T2 colonic neoplasia on preoperative staging and require laparoscopic surgical excision - Pre-operative serum creatinine of <110 mg/dL -aged 18 years or above -A negative pregnancy test for women of childbearing potential -Patients willing and able to give informed consent for participation in the study
